We are building a home for All Saints’ United Methodist Church in Brier Creek. What we build will allow the work of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world to grow and flourish. Building an intentionally sacramental space in the midst of Brier Creek will require much prayer, discernment, sacrifice and commitment. God has blessed All Saints’ with bountiful resources and we are confident that, in the act of sharing and giving God’s resources, we will be able to accomplish much together.
We have started a Capital Stewardship Program, BY FAITH WE BUILD…, to aid us in preparing to do what only God can do. With the acquisition of land and construction of a facility that will reach many people, we will have the space to move forward, impacting our community so that we may make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. These exciting days bring us to a new challenge. This brochure contains many frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers. This information should help us all gain a better understanding of
the facts and ready us for the coming weeks as God prepares us to fulfill his purpose in our community.
- What is a Capital Stewardship Program?
A Capital Stewardship Program is a church project that seeks pledged contributions from members of the congregation to finance a major project. We are having a Capital Stewardship Program to raise money to purchase land in the Brier Creek area of Raleigh, NC and to construct our first building. This building will be multipurpose and will serve as our sanctuary and ministry center until we embark on the next phase of growth. - When will we have land?
We have found a location for our future home. At the time of print, All Saints’ has provided an offer to purchase to the landowners. We hope to have the contract executed within a few days, with closing to take place in the latter half of 2010. - When will we have a building to call home?
Once we have closed on the purchase of the property, we plan to begin the building process. Our goal is to move into the first building approximately one year after the purchase settlement. If all goes well, we will be knowing, loving, and serving God in this space by September of 2011. - How will we pay for it?
Expenses for this project will be paid from donations made through the Capital Stewardship Program. We hope to raise $1.5 million during this spiritual journey. We will then use the land as equity to borrow any additional money needed to complete the first building. - How may I prepare to participate?
Allow God to speak to your heart through prayer. Read Scripture passages that speak about stewardship and giving, such as 1 Corinthians 16:2, Proverbs 11:25, Proverbs 3:5-9, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38, and Psalm 116:12. - How long will my commitment be?
You are asked to make a 3-year commitment. - If I can’t give a large amount, does my pledge really matter?
Absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of amount, because as we all participate according to our ability, God multiplies our giving. - When are we expected to give the amount pledged?
Pledge cards will be turned in on Commitment Sunday, March 21, 2010, and pledges will begin to be received shortly thereafter. - What forms of contributions will be accepted?
Contributions can be made by cash, check or automatic debit from your account. Other forms of contributions can include the transference of title to marketable stocks, bonds, real estate, etc. - Will i be sent a reminder about the commitment that i made over the 3-year period?
Your contributions to the Capital Stewardship Program will appear on the regular statements that you already receive from All Saints’. Statements will show your commitment and contributions up to that point in the year. - May i update my commitment after Celebration Sunday?
Yes. You may update your commitment at any time. - Do you have to be a church member to participate in the campaign?
No. Participating in the program is a personal decision for each of us, and anyone may contribute to God’s work in our church.
