Knowing

knowing Knowing

Our goal at All Saints’ is to know God more fully.  We strive, therefore, to see the work God is doing around us and to find ways to connect with that work.  This requires knowing (or at the very least, seeking!) the heart of God.  Our prayer, with St. Anselm, can be only this: “O God, let me know you and love you so that I may find joy in you; and if I cannot do so fully in this life, let me at least make some progress every day, until at last that knowledge, love and joy come to me in all their plenitude.”  To this end we seek the desires of God’s heart in two ways, communal studies and prayer.

We would love for you to join as we strive to know the heart of God.  Below is a list of ways that you can become involved.  If you have any questions about these groups, please feel free to contact us at info@allsaintsumc.org.

Small groups: Small groups are a great way to dive into the details of loving God with our heads and a great place to strengthen the bonds of community. Most groups are based around a specific study for a limited duration, allowing people to move more fluidly to new topics of study and to get to know more closely a broader range of people.  We meet in individuals homes on a weekly basis. To join or to start one these groups, please contact us.  We will gladly connect you with a group, or feel free simply to join one of the open-invitation, standing small groups listed below.

Midweek Men’s Breakfast: All men (of any age) are invited each Wednesday at 7:00 AM to breakfast at the church’s Ministry Center, located at 3109 Globe Rd., between Aviation Parkway and Page Road.

Theology on Tap: Join us on the second Tuesday of each month at Manchester Grill (9101 Leesville Road
Raleigh, NC 27613
) , for a bit of theological rumination over a round of beer and appetizers.

If you are interested in joining a small group contact Grant Parkins.

Music Ministry: The All Saints’ choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ministry Center and gathers again on Sunday mornings at 10am at the Community Center  to prepare to lead worship. The choir sings selections from a wide variety of world music, traditional hymns, and contemporary arrangements. While some background in music or singing is a definite plus, beginners are warmly welcomed.  John Wesley’s “Directions for Singing” can be found here: http://www.gbgm-umc.org/BensalemPA/wesley.html.  Just keep in mind that, although the founder of Methodism had strong views on singing, we’re far more laid back these days!
